I'm coached by the best
I'm Robert Walters

After first gaining experience in accounting for an industrial maintenance SME, I moved into a recruitment consultant position within the engineering and manufacturing sector. However, with a passion for technology, I joined a SaaS start-up in Amsterdam within a business development role whilst also heading up the recruitment of their technical and sales teams. Robert Walters recognised my background as incredibly pertinent for the development of their technology practice, and so brought me onboard to build and grow the team across Asia and now the expansion in Switzerland.

Throughout my career at Robert Walters, I have received various training, ranging from regular classroom-format tutorials on the fundamentals of our business through to more structured one-to-one coaching from superiors and subject-matter experts. These all-round and career-long training programmes cover skill-specific sessions (eg. How to negotiate) to wider leadership and management training (eg. how to manage your own P&L and relevant leadership masterclasses).

What is so unique about the support you receive at Robert Walters is that programmes are tailored individually to each consultant and/or division throughout the organisation. As our technology practice holds a truly international presence, we have a specific training schedule where tech consultants are brought together in one of our flagship offices (such as Singapore, Hong Kong, London or Barcelona) and receive a multi-day education programme that is hosted by specialist Managers, Principals and expert leaders within the industry. Not only does this allow you to learn and develop necessary hard skills, it also provides the opportunity to connect with your peers around the globe, creating an international community of tech consultants that clients and candidates can truly leverage their opportunities on.

Personally, the individual education and mentoring I have been given has brought an invaluable understanding of the wider business and the tools available to grow both personally and professionally. Through my own experience, I have learnt that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for everybody, and instead, training should be based on a specific person’s needs.

As a trainer myself, I take the time to listen, teach the fundamentals and then assess where an individual may potentially need further support. For each of my team members, using a collaborative approach, we outline a plan with key objectives which I guide them through to achieve these objectives. Once the plan is complete, we evaluate successes and any future development points which then feed through to a new, structured plan for continued learning.

Curiosity and grit are two indispensable personality traits for our business. If you possess these inherent traits and are interested in developing your career in a business development-oriented direction, you should definitely get in touch with us!
